the actual death

Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters! It had been almost a week since I last updated this blog right? This thing is not supposed to happen actually, however, I'll keep on trying to make sure that there is something to share every week, insyaAllah.

Last week, we listened to a very nice soul purification sharing from brother Zaki Solihin. Unfortunately, we have none by this week right? I just hope that I can share something today. With a very little knowledge that I have with me, I'm not the right person to talk about soul purification or anything related to it, but as I said earlier, I'll try because our Iman easily goes up & falls down without our own concious. I'm trying to make everything short, summarizing a part of Harun Yahya's book entitled Death Resurrection Hell.

Death, as referred in the Quran, is quite unlike the 'medical death' people observes from outside. In Surah al-Waqi'ah, Allah mentioned death :

"Why then, when death reaches his throat and you are at that moment looking on—
We are nearer him than you, but you cannot see."
(Surah al-Waqi'ah: 83-85)

From the al-Quran also, Allah stated that, the death of the unbelievers is a great torment :

"...If you could only see the wrongdoers in the throes of death
when the angels are stretching out their hands, saying,
'Yield up your souls. Today you will be repaid with the punishment of humiliation
for saying something other than the truth about Allah,
and being arrogant about His signs."
(Surah al-An'am: 93)

While the death of the believers is a bliss :

"...the angels reclaim the souls of the just, saying: (to believers)
'Peace be upon you! Enter the Garden as a reward for your labors."
(Surah an-Nahl: 32)

Either a torment or a bliss, the choice is in our hand. It is not our hand actually, but it is our heart. As Rasulullah SAW once said,

"Indeed, and in the body, there is a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the rest of the body will be sound. If it is corrupt, the rest of the body will be corrupt. Indeed, it is the heart."

Thus, it is our heart that will determine the fate of our soul on death, either the harsh or the gentle one. And, to keep our heart at constant high level of Iman is not an easy job, it is much much much more tougher than learning Anatomy, Physiology & Biochemistry. Agree? But try to take our time & recheck our faith. Since from the first day we're here in IIUM, campus of Kuantan, till today, how many times did we care about our Iman?

Surely it is true that we're here to excel in study, get a medical degree & become a doctor, or better said, a muslim doctor. But don't forget that, we're in this world for the hereafter. Rasulullah SAW said,

"Indeed, actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended.
So, whoever migrated to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him),
his migration is to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).
And whoever migrated to obtain a portion of the world or to marry a woman,
and his migration is to what he migrated for."
